They Live OnThey Live On

   Those we love remain with us
   For love itself lives on;

   Cherished memories never fade
   Because one loved is gone.

   Those we love can never be
   More than a thought apart;

   For as long as there’s a memory,
   They live on within our heart.

OBITUARY

Douglas Leslie Paddock passed away peacefully at home in Moab, Utah on October 29, 2024, at the age of 79.

Doug was born in Farmington, New Mexico on July 5, 1945, to Herbert and Elda Paddock.

Doug married his soulmate Tommye on December 14, 1963. They had two daughters, Dawn and Stacey, who have always been his pride and joy. In 1973, Doug and Tommye packed up the family and moved to Moab, Utah, where they built their home filled with of love and laughter.

Doug, an avid woodworker, could be found in his wood shop, filled with the comforting hum of the lathe and the scent of freshly cut wood. Each clock and wood-turned piece he created was a source of deep pride and joy for him. Doug poured his heart into every curve and every carefully aligned gear, believing beauty lay in the details and every piece he created would stand the test of time. The pride in his work was contagious, inspiring those around him to see the value in patience, dedication and working with one’s hands. Whether he was fine tuning a clock or shaping a piece of wood, he found pure joy in bringing something beautiful to life.

When Tommye fell ill in 2023, Doug devoted all this time and energy caring for her, until her passing on August 11, 2024. Broken-hearted, he managed as best he could, but in the end, he was just unable to go on without her, since the biggest piece of his life and heart were now missing.

He is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Wilson and Stacey White (Kenneth), and five grandchildren (Brandi, Emily, Eric, Blake, Lena). He loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and they could count on him for advice and counsel, whether it was an over the phone repair job, or helping out wherever he could. He is with his best friend now and he can finally rest.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
